You watch the Charles every morning, watching rowers go by, starting as early as 6:00 in the morning and you think “I can do that”, but you don’t how. Luckily for you, I have the solution:
A) Show up at the Blodgett Pool, adjacent to HBS. B) Walk up to a lifeguard and tell them you want to take a swim test. C) Show them your Harvard ID.
Done. This also works for spouses on campus with a family ID. The test is not hard, it’s 100 yards and staying still for 2 minutes in the pool Pool phone number: (617) 495-1789.
Same building as the pool. Costs $50 for the semester.
This can be done during any weekday between 10am and 4pm. Lessons are $20, after which there are no further fees. General hours are 10-5, Monday through Friday. Closed during weekends.
Highly qualified scullers may be eligible for early morning rowing.
The boathouse is located on the corner of Memorial Drive and JFK street, diagonally across the street from the Kennedy School.
