4 things I learned after my first baseball game

Last Friday, a group of friends from the HKS program, Halla and I went to our first (but definitely not the last) baseball match. We had an absolute blast and I especially want to thank John Pontrello for getting us tickets.

4 things I learned

1. In the 7th round, fans sing “Take me out to the ballgame” and “Sweet Caroline”. Everyone knows the lyrics.
2. At Fenway park, numbers are updated by a person, not a computer.
3. You are required to have a hotdog and beer, or your local hosts will get extremely offended. The hotdogs and beers are very good, so this isn’t too much of a challenge.
4. Redsox fans can get a little dramatic when unhappy about their team’s performance (e.g. when losing against a team like Minnesota). Leaving early is considered “ok” to skip traffic or if you are not interested in participating in a potential riot caused by losing against an unfavourable team.
