Flatbread Bowl Haven

Founded in 1939, Sacco’s Bowl Haven is a Somerville institution – old-time candlepin bowling lanes that managed to survive into the 21st century. The place was overtaken and updated by Flatbread Co, who brightened the space and added clay ovens, but preserved most of the lanes and the good-time atmosphere. They also serve delicious organic pizzas and cold craft beers during the games.

“Team Tornado for the win”

The MPA group and featured spouses ended up playing a few games of Candlepin. Since everyone has mastered the art of bowling, Bostonians prefer to make it more challenging with smaller bowling balls and required drinking.

The “Tornado Team” (bottom-picture below), consisting of carefully selected statistically preferred players played a near perfect game and ended up winning all opposing teams with a high score of 283 points. Stakes were not high, but opposing teams are expected to pay for drinks until the end of summer.
