Last Saturday, a few friends from the HKS program, Halla and I were invited to join for a trip out of town to see Maudslay State Park and go for the beach.
Our day started by driving up to Maudslay State Park, which is about an hours drive from the Kennedy school. The park is a beautiful landscaped and decorative park along the right bank of the Merrimack River. You can notice thickets and gardens, tall pines and people can rent it for weddings or other ceremonies. During our walk, Halla and I were lucky enough to see a Bald Eagle for the first time. Absolutely Magical.

Next stop was Plum Island Beach for a tanning session. When we arrived, the first thing we saw was a big sign warning visitors of “Greenhead” flies with the message “They are hungry, they bite, they draw blood, they are here! (No Refunds!)”.
The Greenheads are definitely the worst part about Plum Island Beach but everything else is super nice. If you don’t mind potentially getting a few small bites, this place is great.
Before heading home we had a short stop at Haley’s Ice cream. They definately gave us the biggest serving of medium Ice-cream I have seen. You start ton wonder what an XL might look like.
It was a really a wonderful experience to get out of town and for the first time see some more areas of New England. Special kudos to Earl for planning the trip!
